Under the recent restructuring of the Jamaica Revenue Services, the Revenue Protection Department was established.

Revenue Protection Department (RPD)
The RPD investigates cases involving Customs breaches and acts of fraud in respect of the various Tax Acts, and is responsible for internal security within the tax departments. The Commissioner is Mr. Michael Surridge.

 Internal Audit Division
Perform independent review and appraisals of the financial and operational activities of all Revenue Services Departments in order to ensure that the necessary protective measures and controls are established and maintained.

This function also includes the revision of computerised systems within all Revenue Departments. 

 Inspectorate Division
This Department is responsible for post auditing of the following functions:

This Division is required to access information from all the Revenue Departments to prevent duplication. 

 Internal Investigations
The Internal Investigation Unit (IIU) is responsible for investigating breaches of the Public ServiceRegulations, the Staff Orders and the RevenueService Code of Conduct. The IIU priorities include investigating corruption, bribery, and rules of conduct violations as well as conductingpre-employment screenings and employee and public education programmes. 

 Special Investigation
The Special Investigations Branch primary role is to detect and investigate revenue fraud across the entire revenue spectrum in a manner that is both aggressive and fair. In so doing will uphold the highest degree of integrity and ethics.

It will gather, analyse, collate and disseminate intelligence for the use and betterment of all revenue services such that investigations are conducted in an accurate, efficient, and effective manner.

In general the objectives of the Special Investigations Branch include continuous receipt, development and enhancement of intelligence from all the Revenue Services as mandated under TAXARP for the Revenue Protection Department as well as the other Revenue Services and agencies.

The unit seeks to foster a strong relationship with both public and private sector activities. Through the sharing of information between these agencies we hope to create an atmosphere where compliance is the norm. We encourage members of the public to report Tax evasions.
